National Drive Electric Month

Road trips in personal vehicles continue to be the travel choice for millions of Americans. As charging infrastructure expands rapidly across the country, the open road has never been more accessible for electric vehicle drivers.

For more than 20 years, a dedicated group of volunteers in north central Washington has been doing the quiet, essential work of electrifying a region; one conversation, one charging station, and one community fair at a time. Now, as their longtime parent organization prepares to dissolve, that work is entering a new chapter — literally.

Pro-Vision Academy, in partnership with The Green Thumb Academy, Inc., hosted a summer enrichment camp featuring Legacy EV electric go-carts. Designed for 5th–8th graders, the program gave students hands-on experience while Houston EVA volunteers coached about the build process. Installing motors, batteries, gears, chains, and electrical wiring—along with Bill Swann’s commentary on energy and speed—made the experience both educational and fun.
