Chapters are the heartbeat of the Electric Auto Association and make up the largest consumer-facing EV nonprofit that educates communities about the benefits of driving electric. Chapter leaders pivoted quickly when the pandemic first started to continue their EV education efforts and offer their local chapter events online.

Here are the latest updates for chapter leaders and their volunteers.

Email and video conference tools

Chapters have access to professional email and video conference tools through Mailchimp and Zoom…and we’ll train you! Contact our Membership Chair Elaine Borseth.

Chapter websites and Facebook

Ensure your chapter website or Facebook page is listed on the national website so your community can find you. Check our Chapter List to confirm your information is updated.

Current EVents goes online

Current EVents Magazine has moved to a fully online blog format. It's now easier for chapters to share the articles on your own Facebook pages and other social media channels.

In an effort to educate more people about EVs and the great work chapters do, we've expanded our outreach from our members only, to our 25,000 subscribers. We're already seeing the benefit with subscribers reading and posting our stories on their own pages each month.

Chapter finances

The chapter expenses reimbursement process is still the same:

  • Visit the Member "Resources" page

  • Download the Expense Reimbursement Form

  • Have it signed by your Chapter President

  • Email the form along with the receipt to treasurer@electricauto.org

  • We will confirm receipt and send a check within two weeks

Have questions about your chapter finances, email our Treasurer Terri Kirsch and we’re happy to help you.

Event insurance

In the Spring most chapters moved their events online due to Covid-19 and will continue to do so. For those looking to do social distancing chapter events (i.e., EV drive-ins or EV motorcades) we continue to keep our event insurance available and require chapters follow their local health official’s guidelines.

It is important to know what this insurance covers and what it does not. It covers the meeting premises for fire and other damage and members for accidents, such as tripping or falling. It does not cover damage to automobiles, or sickness caused by Covid 19. This information can be found in the President's Handbook on the Member "Resources" page. Membership Chair Elaine Borseth can answer your insurance questions.
