Participants in the 34th annual Historic Route 66 Arizona Fun Run, which ran May 5 - May 7th, had another great experience driving around scenic northern Arizona. For 2023, an EV drive component was part of the event and the Electric Vehicle Association (EVA), in partnership with the Scottsdale EVA and Livingston Energy, sponsored and handed out awards.

The event started in Seligman, AZ, and traveled to Kingman, AZ, where more than 30 EVs gathered at the Powerhouse Visitor Center and Arizona Route 66 Museum on Saturday. Classic gas cars and a wide variety of EVs were on display inside the museum, and the EV awards were judged on Saturday.

EVA President and Fun Run attendee, Elaine Borseth said “this was such a great event to showcase electric vehicles - while the Fun Run has amazing classic cars to check out, it was a great chance to talk to car lovers from all over the country about driving electric. It was so good to hear from people that they had driven their ‘64 Mustang to the Fun Run, but had an Ioniq 5 at home!

The Fun Run was also a great example of the incredible work that our chapters do. The Scottsdale EVA coordinated the event and had help and participation from other chapters as well and what a great place to showcase our Route 66 chapter.”

The Scottsdale EVA sponsored the "Best EV" and "Best Conversion EV" trophies, which were awarded by the Historic Route 66 Association of Arizona. The trophies were made from asphalt that was taken from old parts of Route 66 by a local artist in Kingman. Keep reading for the entire list of award winners!

Patrick McNamara's Lucid was special enough to garner particular attention from the judges, granting him the Get Your Kicks Award for the best photo from Day 1!

The National EVA sponsored ten other EV award categories that were graciously provided by Livingston Energy Group. Fun fact, a Livingston Energy intern produced electric car charger trophies via 3D modeling, and Livingston Energy’s design and manufacturing teams brought them to life!

“Livingston Energy Group was proud to be a part of the Arizona Historic Route 66 Fun Run in 2023,” Kate Kruk, Dir. of Community Engagement, Livingston Energy Group.  “Livingston Energy Group was proud to have our new Made-in-America Level 2 EV Charging Station sit on top of this year’s electric vehicle division trophies.  Our team is committed to building EV infrastructure to fuel today’s drivers.”

All of us at the EVA sincerely appreciate their efforts to bring a unique award for our winners this year.
